A referral email only works if each reader gets their own link. Once GrowSurf is syncing to your AWeber list, that link is a custom field, so a single broadcast covers the whole list.

The same tags work in follow-up series. A broadcast reaches whoever is on the list the day you send it; a follow-up reaches every new subscriber on its own schedule, without you sending again.

## Integration Steps

### Confirm the fields exist

The AWeber integration card in GrowSurfAWeber lives in Program Editor > 4. Options > Integrations.

AWeber tags only resolve for subscribers that already carry the field. Check that the integration is connected to the right list and that at least one participant has synced.

### Drop the share link into a broadcast

Use `{!custom GrowSurf Share URL}` as both the link target and the visible text. People copy a visible URL far more often than they click a styled button, and a visible link survives being pasted into a message.

### Add progress only when you have it

`{!custom GrowSurf Total Referral Count}` and `{!custom GrowSurf Next Milestone}` make a message feel personal, but a brand-new subscriber has neither. Keep the sentence readable when both are blank, or send those variants to a segment that already has referrals.

### Reuse it in a follow-up series

The same tags work in AWeber follow-up messages. Milestone text and reward rules are configured on the GrowSurf side, so you can change the offer without touching the email.

#### Test against a real synced subscriber

AWeber’s preview against an unsynced record renders empty tags, which hides a typo in the field name until the broadcast is already out.

#### Milestone text is opt-in

`{!custom GrowSurf Next Milestone}` is filled in only on programs with milestone rewards and Next Milestone text configured. On other programs it stays blank.
