How to Sync GrowSurf Referral Data to Campaign Monitor

Authorize once, choose a client and a list, and every subscriber carries their referral link as a custom field.

Use these docs for exact setup steps, supported fields, and troubleshooting.

GrowSurf keeps a Campaign Monitor list current. Each participant’s referral link, referral counts, referrer details, and milestone progress arrive as custom subscriber fields you can use in any campaign.

Campaign Monitor is agency-shaped: you pick a client first, then a list inside it. Get that pair right at connect time and the rest is automatic.

Integration Steps

Check the list has room

Campaign Monitor allows 50 custom fields per list and GrowSurf uses 15. That is comfortable for most lists, but worth checking if you have built a heavily customized one. Deleting a custom field also deletes its stored data for every subscriber, so clear space deliberately rather than mid-setup.

Authorize Campaign Monitor

Open Program Editor > 4. Options > Integrations and search for Campaign Monitor.

Search the integrations list in Program Editor > 4. Options > Integrations.

Expand the card and select Connect to Campaign Monitor.

Connecting opens Campaign Monitor’s own login and authorization screen.

Log in and authorize GrowSurf.

Choose the client, then the list

Pick the Campaign Monitor client that owns the list, then the list itself. GrowSurf adds or updates subscribers there whenever someone joins or gets referred.

Connect before importing participants. If they are already in the program, use the existing-participant sync options.

Tips

Client and list are a pair

Switching clients later means reselecting the list. Pick the client that will still own this program in six months.

50 fields is generous, not infinite

GrowSurf uses 15 of them. A list already close to the cap will fail to take the new fields.

Tags work in subject lines too

Campaign Monitor can insert personalization into the subject line and preview text as well as the body, so referral progress can show up in the inbox before the email is opened.

FAQ

How many custom fields does GrowSurf create?

15, against Campaign Monitor’s limit of 50 per list.

Why does GrowSurf ask for a client?

Campaign Monitor nests lists inside clients, so GrowSurf needs both to know where to write.

What is the tag for the referral link?

[GrowSurfShareURL].

Trusted by marketing and product teams that grow through customer, user, and partner referrals.
